The whole game is of the mind, how we see!
The mind is the precursor of all tendencies, the mind is the chief; They are adorable. If one speaks or acts with a faulty mind, misery follows him like the feet of an ox pulling the wheel of a cart.'
The Buddha examined his every instinct and found that the instinct was a wave in the lake of the mind. Vritti means wave. If the mind is able to remain silent, then no instinct will arise. If the mind is shaken, instinct is born.
Two and a half thousand years ago, there was no car in the time of Buddha, so many foolish think that there was great peace then; Since the car was not there, the car could not be a concern. If there was no airplane, then the worry about buying an airplane could not have arisen. But you are at fault. Such were the concerns. Because someone had a wonderful bullock cart, a wagon, it used to create anxiety. Somebody had a wonderful horse, it used to cause anxiety. The topic for concern doesn't matter.
Ask Marx, he says misery is arising because the economic structure of the society is wrong. There is poverty, there is wealth, so misery is being created.
Ask Freud, he says, misery arises because if a man is left completely open to his instincts, then he becomes like a wild animal. It will cause pain. Civilization will be destroyed. If it is explained – quenched, prepared, refined, then there is repression. Repression creates suffering. That's why Freud said, misery never goes away. So Freud said in the end that man can never be happy as he is. Happiness is impossible.
Freud and Marx, if their analysis were the only analysis, then it is sure that man can never be happy. Because in Russia the poor and the rich disappeared but the misery did not disappear. When the poor and the rich disappeared, other classes arose. Some are on the posts, and some are not on the posts. Some are in the Communist Party, and some are not in the Communist Party. The one who is in office has become so powerful as never was in the prosperous old days.
All revolutions have been in vain; Only one revolution of Buddha still has meaning. Buddha says the reason is in your mind. The cause of misery lies in your heart. Whenever you want to hurt someone, you will get hurt. You are sowing the seeds of misery whenever you go after a thought desiring to cause misery. Whether the other will get hurt or not, you will definitely get hurt.
If you have the slightest desire to hurt anyone, then you are sowing seeds for yourself. Because the seed of hurting in your heart will fall in the land of your own mind, I cannot fall in the land of someone else's mind. The seed is within you, the tree will also be within you. You will enjoy the fruits.
If you look very carefully, then you can see, that when you want to hurt others, then you have started hurting yourself.
If you are unhappy then know yourself the reason, if you are happy then know yourself the reason. Don't take the reason outside of you. That's the deception. This is what I call a religious revolution. The person who has seen all the causes of his life within himself, that person becomes religious. Because now it is in his hands. Now if you want to be unhappy, then you know which seeds to sow. If you want to be happy, then you know which seeds to sow.
The whole game is of the mind, how we see!
